Holmes Murphy Celebrates Community-Focused Philanthropy

Company Releases 2022-2023 Community Impact Report

Holmes Murphy is proud to share its 2022-2023 Community Impact Report, showcasing the company’s unwavering commitment to fostering a positive and lasting difference for those they serve. Since its founding, Holmes Murphy has stood as a purpose-driven organization with an emphasis on driving change not only as individuals, teams, and corporately, but also with clients, partners, and community members. At the root of Holmes Murphy’s core spirit is a culture that cares, which has made the last 90 years in business possible.

In 2022, the Holmes Murphy Foundation provided funds to 125 nonprofits and contributed over 3,000 employee volunteer hours throughout each of the company’s markets. On top of this, Holmes Murphy gave $100,000 in philanthropic contributions to 27 different non-profits through the Community Footprints Program, which allows for employee feedback to select organizations based on the four giving pillars of: Safety, Health, and Wellbeing; Youth Opportunities; Arts and Culture; and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DE&I).

“I continue to be in awe of the great work our employees do in all of our communities. This past year was no exception,” said Tom Stewart, Holmes Murphy PLUS President and Foundation Executive Sponsor. “When it comes to giving back — whether it’s with our time, talents, or treasures — our employees are always engaged and willing to step up.”

Stemming from an increased commitment to DE&I, Holmes Murphy also added a Chief Diversity Officer (CDO) in 2022. Espnola Cartmill helps champion DE&I efforts by working across the Holmes Murphy enterprise to develop and implement comprehensive strategies that promote DE&I at all levels of the organization. Along with this, Holmes Murphy has a DE&I Committee, four DE&I subcommittees (focused on recruitment, mentoring, education, and communication), employee resource groups, and an interest group (comprising more than 120 employees) focused on DE&I. Their collective goal is to embrace differences with intentionality and to make positive advancements. Their efforts are designed with authenticity and aligned to their purpose with both employees and leadership fully activated and engaged.

Holmes Murphy also took steps forward in the area of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG), appointing Practice Leader Lou Raiola and adding consulting services in this space. At Holmes Murphy, ESG is seen as an opportunity to do what’s right, make an impact, care for the planet, and help others, all while supporting the causes that are most important to their clients, communities, and the insurance industry as a whole.

“Our 90-year journey has been marked by a steadfast commitment to providing exceptional service, and throughout the past year, we have continued to innovate and expand our offerings to better serve not only our valued clients, but also our team members, partners, and communities,” said Dan Keough, Holmes Murphy Chairman and CEO. “We look forward to building upon our legacy of trust, care, reliability, and community support for many years to come.”

Holmes Murphy is devoted to maximizing its giving and community engagement through the Holmes Murphy Foundation and other initiatives. The company believes all its employees play a role in living out their unique potential and caring for those around them. They’re honored to light the way for change and offer a brighter future for all.
