We are looking to add an Ancillary Benefit Analyst to join our Avant team in Kansas City, MO. Candidates thrive in our environment when they harness their collaborative mindset, strong interpersonal communication skills, and a love of learning.
This role will provide support in the marketing and service of group employee benefit insurance programs, to contribute to profitability and value, and give overall team support including evaluating the needs and risks of the client and creating a strategy specific to those needs. The support provided will be in accordance with established objectives and procedures of Holmes Murphy and Avant Specialty Benefits.
Interacts directly and independently with Broker Account Teams, Carriers, and Avant team members to manage day-to-day tasks for assigned clients, according to Avant best practices, to ensure that both client expectations and Avant goals are met on time and within budget.
Duties:
- Act as the Relationship Manager for the Avant team during discovery, RFP, and implementation.
- Direct relationship with dedicated account manager at Broker location(s) to include coordination of planning, calendaring, and strategy.
- Develop and maintain carrier lists, necessary product knowledge and requests for demonstrations, implementation, or ongoing maintenance (and status thereof).
- Manage RFP process, including coordination with dedicated account team(s), data gathering, RFP building, addressing all carrier/HMA internal questions, monitoring initial and secondary pricing events, compiling responses, and preparing final sales presentations from the system, aid in finalizing client’s selections and confirm commission agreements.
- Assist Account Managers with ensuring accuracy to include: reviewing coverages, renewals, applications, new business submissions, as well as, checking upon receipt; policies, premiums, invoicing, and SPD’s.
- Establish and manage timelines that clearly identify all tasks, task durations, and team resources responsible for completing the tasks and milestones needed to complete assigned projects.
- Review completed data to ensure accurate completion of required documents. Data entry into associated systems (such as Excel, Workday Strategic Sourcing, Salesforce, etc.).
- Review and analyze data used in the preparation and creation of materials for marketing presentations, including communicating with other Avant and Holmes Murphy staff, vendors, and carriers when necessary to ensure the accuracy of all data.
- Communicate in a timely, courteous, and professional manner with clients, coworkers, carriers and vendors, to facilitate a productive environment and ensure proper administration of accounts.
- Meet schedules and established deadlines for timely completion of new and renewal presentations.
- Assist in driving campaigns with activity such as: developing content, monitoring pipelines, preparing proposal materials, and supporting account managers for ongoing service issues.
- Prepare and create presentations, utilizing software packages such as Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Assist with the training and on boarding of new team members. May aid in developing a training plan and act as an on-going mentor for processes and procedures.
- Perform other special duties and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to manage multiple tasks/duties simultaneously.
- Leading knowledge of employee benefit coverages and the ability to apply that knowledge in the performance of the job duties.
- Ability to read, understand and analyze Life and Disability, Worksite, Dental and Vision coverages, forms, and policies.
- Ability to maintain state-specific life/health insurance agent’s license or obtain within three months of hire.
- Superior communication skills and the ability to apply these skills in either verbal or written form when interacting with various clients, carriers, company personnel, and team members.
- Ability to operate a computer and working knowledge of various software packages such as, Word, Excel, Power Point, Workday Strategic Sourcing, Salesforce, etc.
- Ability and willingness to consistently participate in educational opportunities with Vendors to enhance knowledge of current insurance topics or relevant system improvements.
- Ability to keep current on industry trends to include legislative compliance issues.
- Ability to be available for work daily and extended hours as necessary.
- Ability to assist in other work-related duties, as necessary.
- Must be knowledgeable of and comply with HMA’s Client Privacy Policy, HIPAA regulations and E&O procedures and policies.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School Diploma required; College degree preferred. Active state-specific Life/Health Insurance agent license, or the ability to obtain within three months of hire. Technical designations such as CEBS, CLU, etc. preferred.
- Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in employee benefits, human resources, insurance, or other related fields.
